Will Smith was back in the USA Tuesday night, and explaining the incident from a few days before in which he appeared to slap a red-carpet journalist in the face.
Smith — who’s in the midst of a worldwide promotion tour for his new movie “Men in Black 3” (opening Friday) — tried to set the record straight when David Letterman asked him about it on Tuesday night’s “Late Show” on CBS.
The incident happened at an “MIB3” premiere in Moscow, and it was widely covered this past weekend when video surfaced of Smith appearing to strike this reporter, who had moved in to hug the movie star and then tried to kiss him. That’s when Smith seemed to cuff the reporter lightly on the chin (though it was clear Smith was angry).
As you’ll see in the video, above, Smith more or less explained what happened to Dave — though the two played the incident mostly for laughs.
Meanwhile, the promo push for “MIB3” went bicoastal Tuesday night as one of Smith’s co-stars, Josh Brolin, appeared simultaneously on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on NBC.
And who did Jay and Josh talk about? Will Smith, of course!
