Teen MomAmber Portwood has been sentenced to five years in prison — after rejecting the chance to avoid jail time.

The MTV star shocked even her own lawyer when she asked the judge to “reimpose her sentence,” stemming from a December drug arrest, after quitting the rehab program that was keeping her out of prison, according to TMZ.

Portwood, 22, had been sentenced in February but made a plea deal to stay out of prison on the condition that she complete a drug rehabilitation program. After three months of struggling in rehab and failing to meet the requirements, Portwood gave up on the program and opted for prison instead, says TMZ.

In court Tuesday morning, her lawyer asked for “leniency,” but the judge didn’t budge and enforced the original terms of Portwood’s sentence.

It’s likely that Portwood, the single mother of a toddler, will spend two-and-a-half years in prison, says CNN, before being released on parole for the remainder of her five-year sentence.

The judge will now refer Portwood to the Indiana Department of Corrections therapeutic community program, an incarceration-based treatment program.
