Showtime’s “Weeds” is calling it a wrap and will come to an end after the upcoming eighth season, Entertainment Weekly reports.

The once-brilliant comedy from creator Jenji Kohan and starring Mary-Louise Parker has been suffering creatively in recent seasons and has pretty much run its course, so the news isn’t too surprising.

Still, its legacy is significant in terms of putting Showtime on the map — when it debuted in 2005, the ground-breaking series about a pot-dealing suburban mom was one of the first shows to help make the network the home of edgier fare.

The final season of “Weeds” premieres Sunday, July 1 at 10/9c on Showtime.
