Friday morning will start a new era on “Today,” when Savannah Guthrie officially steps into the co-host role vacated by Ann Curry today, according to multiple reports.
The Hollywood Reporter writes that Guthrie will co-host the show alongside Matt Lauer, a role she has held before as Curry’s substitute when she was away. But the site reports that there will be no formal announcement about Guthrie’s role despite her elevation and the team will look to move forward quickly to get ready for the Summer Games.
However, TMZ writes that there will “likely” be a formal announcement the big switch during the Friday’s show. The site writes that the reason for the rush is that Lauer is on vacation next week fand the network wants to announce his new co-host while he’s still in town.
