Simon Cowell is taking his time finding his next hosts for “The X Factor.”
Considering his Season 1 choice of Steve Jones went bust, Cowell is trying to find the right dynamic for the job when two new hosts fill the role when Season 2 returns this fall (with two new judges on board in Britney Spears and Demi Lovato).
Prospective hosts are currently being interviewed, with testing for the job to take place in several weeks, according to Entertainment Weekly.
“I want to work with a boy and girl and I definitely think this is a role for two people,” Cowell explained to reporters, which is how he originally envisioned the hosting gig from the start. “[We] have narrowed it down to five people.”
Simon says it’s down to five contenders, but there are many more names than that being floated to the press.
EW hears that former “DWTS” stars Stacy Keibler and Mario Lopez are under consideration, along with BET personality Rocsi Diaz.
Meanwhile, E! says Khloé Kardashian, Kelly Osbourne, BET’s 106 & Park host Terrence J, sportscaster Erin Andrews and radio personality Mike Catherwood are being looked at by producers.
“They want to make sure the duo has chemistry,” an insider said according to E!.
So expect the process to be drawn out over the long, hot summer.
