Usher Pulls Out of ESPY Show Due to Former Stepson’s Tragic Accident

Usher has pulled out of tonight’s telecast of the ESPYs.

The musician has opted not participate in ESPN’s annual awards show due to the jet ski accident that took place over the weekend,, leaving his former stepson in critical condition, according to E! News. An ESPN rep confirmed the pullout to the outlet. Usher was set to be one of the the evening’s award presenters.

Saturday’s accident saw the singer’s former stepson, 11-year-old Kyle Glover, get hit in the head by a jet ski driver while the boy was riding an inner tube at Lake Lanier in Georgia. Police named the driver of the watercraft as Usher family friend Jeffrey S. Hubbard. No charges have been filed in the matter although police told E! News that the incident remains under investigation.

As for the ESPYs, other presenters and guests at the event are set to include Jessica Biel, Jeremy Renner, Zooey Deschanel, Kenny Chesney and Shaun White.
