The parents of Trayvon Martin, the Florida teen who was shot to death by neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman, appeared Thursday on “The Today Show” to give their thoughts on Zimmerman’s first television interview since killing their son in February.

As he faces second-degree murder charges, Zimmerman, 28, spoke Wednesday night to Fox News’ Sean Hannity, opening up about the high-profile case, which thousands of outraged supporters of the Martin family believe was fueled by racial profiling.

“He had no regards for Trayvon’s life, and he don’t regret taking Trayvon’s life,” Trayvon’s father Tracy Martin said to Matt Lauer. “Had George Zimmerman stayed in his vehicle, Trayvon would be with us here today.”

One comment that Zimmerman made during the hour-long sitdown with Fox News has rattled viewers — and Travyon’s family.

“I feel it was all God’s Plan,” Zimmerman said of the tragedy.

“I really think that is ridiculous,” responded Sybrina Fulton, the teen’s mother. “I really wish Trayvon was here to tell his side of the story.”

“And I don’t believe that it was God’s plan for him to kill an innocent teenager,” she added.

Zimmerman had a fatal confrontation with Martin in a Sanford, Fla., neighborhood after he called 911 to report what he deemed to be “suspicious” activity from the black teen. Zimmerman ignored the dispatcher’s directive not to approach Martin and alleges the 17-year-old boy then attacked him, so he drew his gun and shot him.

“I would have not done anything differently,” Zimmerman said to Hannity. “I’m not a racist. I’m not a murderer.”

He did express that he was sorry and “can’t imagine what it must feel like to bury a child.”

Zimmerman also said during the interview that he would like the opportunity to speak with Martin’s parents. When Lauer asked Trayvon’s mother if she would be willing, she replied, “Absolutely not.”
