NBC’s “Parks and Recreation” dabbled in politics last season. Now it about to get real.
When we last saw Leslie Knope (played by Amy Poehler), she had just wrapped up her election to the Pawnee city council. Next season, she will take a trip to Washington D.C. to pay a visit to her boyfriend and the episode will feature cameos from U.S. Senators Barbara Boxer (D-California), John McCain (R-Arizona) and Olympia Snowe (R-Maine), according to TV Guide.
The new season of the series is set to return to the airwaves on Thursday, Sept. 20 at 9:30 p.m. with the Washington-driven episode expected to air on Sept. 27.
Poehler, meanwhile, nabbed her third consecutive Emmy nomination for outstanding lead actress in a comedy this morning, while her series landed four overall nominations this year.
