Kelsey Grammer’s wife comes first. During a TCA panel for the second season of his Starz drama “Boss,” Grammer surprised reporters by answering a phone call from Kayte Grammer.
The abrupt interruption came as he was discussing how he and series newcomer, rapper T.I., first met. “I have to answer this for one second,” Grammer said, reaching into his pocket. “Hi, honey. Okay, cool. I’m on stage right now, but go ahead,” he was overheard saying. At first it appeared to be a pre-planned bit, but the conversation went on.
“Oh, that sounds great,” he continued as the other panelists, including actors Jonathan Groff, T.I., Sanaa Lathan and executive producers Dee Johnson and Farhad Safinia quietly talked amongst themselves. “You know what? They should bring the trucks,” Grammer added. “Call Stan, though.” As Grammer began reciting a phone number, his microphone was turned off and questioning resumed.
At the end of the session Grammer was asked by another reporter why he decided to answer the phone in the midst of a press conference. “Well there are some things that are more important than others,” Grammer noted. “And the well-being of my wife sits atop the charts.”
Kelsey and Katye welcomed their first daughter together, Faith Evangeline Elisa, on July 13.
