’48 Hours Mystery’ Helps Crack Cold Case Involving Alleged Serial Killer

Maureen Maher of "48 Hours Mystery" (CBS)

An episode of “48 Hours Mystery” that ran in 2011, may finally lead to a resolution of a 20-year-old murder.

In 1993, Tricia Pacaccio was found killed and her murder unsolved until the television show ran a report on the case last year. Now, her alleged killer is facing a trial not only for her death but for two other unrelated murders as well.

In this weekend’s episode of the show, Maureen Maher updates audiences on the initial broadcast, and how two new witnesses came forward after the episode ran to offer information that led to the long-awaited capture of the alleged killer as well as possible closure for the parents of Pacaccio, who had just graduated from high school and was looking forward to her future when she was brutally stabbed and dumped on the side porch of her Glenview, Ill., home.

The episode runs on CBS at 10 p.m. on Saturday, but here’s a taste of what’s to come.
