Twenty-nine-year-old “Real World: Hollywood” star Joey Kovar was found dead at his friend’s home near Chicago Friday morning.
According to TMZ, Kovar was discovered by a female friend who saw blood coming out of his ears and nose. She alerted the authorities who arrived shortly thereafter and pronounced the troubled star dead.
Kovar had a history of substance abuse. He bowed out of “The Real World” in 2008 midway through the season to check into rehab for alcohol and drugs. In 2010 he appeared on VH1’s “Celebrity Rehab,” seeking help for cocaine and ecstasy use.
A TMZ source says family members believe drugs to be at fault for Kovar’s death.
On Thursday, Kovar wrote a string of cryptic final tweets. “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us,” he wrote on his Twitter page, followed by “Fall seven times, stand up eight,” “Life is not about how fast you run or how high you climb but how well you bounce,” and “Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do,” in quick succession.
Prior to his reality TV appearances, Kovar was a Chicago-based personal trainer and bodybuilder who aspired to become an actor.
