It might be difficult for some people to “wipe out” half of their face and consider themselves lucky, but that’s exactly what Food Network celebrity Marc Summers felt following an accident last week.

Summers, was in a cab on a rainy Philadelphia road after returning from a shoot of “Restaurant Impossible“-which he produces- when “the cab lost control, hydroplaned,” he told People in an interview.

The accident caused the “Unwrapped” to slam head first into a partition between the front and back seats of the cab.

“Everything on the left side [of my face] from my eye socket down was just wiped out,” he said in the interview. “My eye socket got all swollen. I’m having trouble seeing completely out of the left eye … There’s lots of titanium and screws in my face.”

“I was pretty lucky that I didn’t have brain damage,” Summers adds.

Summer spent four hours of surgery with a plastic surgeon following the accident and the good news was that the long-term damage will be minimal.

“Everything went back into place,” the host says. “In a few weeks, the swelling will go down and no one will ever know … I’ll be a new guy.”
