Katy Perry Reportedly Nixes ‘American Idol’s $20 Million Offer

American Idol” made an offer to singer Katy Perry. For $20 million. And the singer known for her colorful coifs and outspoken personality said…brace yourself…no thank you.

According to numerous media outlets, including The Hollywood Reporter, Us magazine, and TMZ, the Fox series has pursued Perry for the past couple of months. The show reportedly raised their offer above the $18 million they agreed to pay superstar diva Mariah Carey to replace Jennifer Lopez at the judge’s table.

However, Perry turned it down. To the Hollywood Reporter, she said, “It’s just not right for me.”

What is right for Perry? Cooking classes. On August 20, she started her first class and tweeted, “Oh my God, I’m learning to be a human!”

As for “Idol,” they are still searching for replacements for Lopez and Steven Tyler. Among the names floated: Nicki Minaj, Nick Jonas, and Kanye West.
