A self-proclaimed “redneck” family took down the Republican National Convention on Wednesday night.
TLC’s “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” continued to grow in ratings. The program, which focuses on the family of the “Toddlers and Tiaras” fixture, drew nearly 3 million viewers at 10 p.m., according to The Hollywood Reporter. In the key advertiser-friendly demographic of adults 18-49, however, the series actually did better than any other cable channel for the night, including the networks covering the RNC.
The closest anyone managed to get to the “Boo Boo” phenomenon was Fox News, which generated a 1.2 rating in the demo, compared to a 1.3 for the TLC reality show.
Going against the big boy broadcast channels, “Honey Boo Boo” also topped the combined demographic ratings of both ABC and CBS from the convention. The series also beat NBC’s coverage by two tenths of a point.
Maybe the young girl should have had a keynote at the Tampa event.
