Simon Cowell was not happy with news that NBC was adding a third night of “The Voice” that would go head-to-head with the first hour of “The X Factor’s” premiere this season.
“This is a cynical, cold-hearted, unprofessional way of doing business,” he told TMZ. He noted that the move would hurt the network’s own audience, forcing them to choose between Christina Aguilera’s show and Britney Spears’ new show.
“Britney’s not going to appreciate the fact that Christina — who has been a bit of a rival — isn’t allowing Britney to have a night of her own,” he told the site.
Cowell stated that he was under the impression that he had a “gentleman’s agreement” with NBC, where “The Voice” would run Mondays and Tuesdays, while “X Factor” would run Wednesdays and Thursdays on FOX. That way fans could watch both shows.
“The reason they’ve done this is they don’t want people to see ‘X Factor’ because they’ve heard how good the series is,” he adds. “They don’t want their audience to see Britney Spears. They don’t want their audience to see Demi Lovato.”
