The women of “The Talk” are daring to bare their makeup-free faces when the season premiere airs on Monday, Sept. 10.
Julie Chen, Sharon Osbourne, Sara Gilbert, Sheryl Underwood and Aisha Tyler will go au natural along with guests Jamie Lee Curtis, and soap stars Michelle Stafford and Melody Thomas Scott of “The Young and the Restless,” and Katherine Kelly Lang of “The Bold and the Beautiful.”
“I had a lot of trepidation when we decided to do this,” Chen tells People of the stunt. “We know there are people who are going to say, ‘Oh, my God, no wonder they wear so much makeup.'”
Chen says the decision came from a desire to stay genuine. “We decided the ultimate way to be real and authentic would be to go on without our fake hair, fake eyelashes, five pounds of TV makeup.”
Adding that, “It’s a fun idea that not many women would feel comfortable doing,” Chen admits, “Luckily, what makes our show work is that the women who sit at that table are comfortable enough in their own skin that we’ll all take that risk.”
