‘Voice’ vs. ‘X Factor’: Christina Wins Wednesday Face-Off With Brit

NBC’s “Voice” was America’s choice.

That was at least true for 10.664 million viewers who opted to watch “The Voice” on NBC over the season premiere of “The X Factor” on Fox in the first hour of prime time on Wednesday night.

The face-off represented a rare instance in which a network — in this case, NBC — scheduled one of its high-profile competition-talent shows directly up against another one on another network. This particular confrontation was billed as a ratings battle of pop divas because it pitted Britney Spears — making her debut as an “X Factor” judge — against Christina Aguilera, who’s a judge-mentor on “The Voice.”

Christina and “The Voice” — airing on its third consecutive evening after premiering Monday night on NBC — held sway over “The X Factor” when the two collided on Wednesday from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. (7-8c). According to the Nielsen overnight ratings, “The X Factor” had 7.453 million viewers — 3.2 million less than “The Voice.”

And then, for good measure, NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” out-rated “The X Factor” in the Fox show’s second hour at 9/8c — 11.011 million to 9.486 million, respectively.
