Fox’s “New Girl” now has parents.
They’ll be played by guest-stars Jamie Lee Curtis, 53, and Rob Reiner, 65, in at least one episode of the Fox sitcom starring Zooey Deschanel as “new girl” Jess Day.
The casting of Curtis and Reiner as Jess’ parents is being reported in multiple places on Saturday, including here, on the Entertainment Weekly Web site.
The two TV vets (Curtis was seen on “NCIS” last season and Reiner starred in “All in the Family” before becoming a movie director) will turn up in a Thanksgiving episode of “New Girl” in November, according to the stories.
Few details about the episode were reported, but here’s what we do know: These two parents have been divorced for quite some time, and they’ll cross paths at Jess’ apartment as she schemes to get them back together. We have a feeling this plan won’t work, but you never know.
Meanwhile, another “New Girl” casting tidbit is making the rounds — it’s the addition of Carla Gugino, most recently seen in “Political Animals” on USA Network, in an apparently recurring role as Schmidt’s (Max Greenfield) sexy boss.
“New Girl” is scheduled to start its second season on Tuesday, Sept. 25, with two back-to-back episodes starting at 8/7 on Fox.
