Arnold Schwarzenegger got candid with “60 Minutes” about his infamous affair with one of his housekeepers while married to Maria Shriver. Of course, the affair led to the birth of an illegitimate son that he hid from his wife and ending up leading to the end of the marriage of the two celebrities.
With a book on the way that will candidly describe why and how the affair took place, the former governor of California was quick to tell the CBS show that his indiscretion ended up taking a toll on every member of his family.
“So you lied to her?” Schwarzenegger was asked.
“You could say that,” he replied.
“She gave up her television career for you, I mean wow.” The interviewer then went on to ask, “Was this just the most unbelievable act of betrayal to Maria?” .
“I think it was the stupidest thing I have done in the whole relationship,” he responded. “It was terrible. I inflicted tremendous pain on Maria and unbelievable pain on the kids.”
Schwarzenegger’s memoir, “Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story” will be out on Monday and the “60 Minutes” interview will air on CBS Sunday at 7:00 p.m. ET/PT.
