Reese Witherspoon is bringing the classics to the CW.
The actress has inked a deal with the network to bring a modern-day version of the Charles Dickens classic “Great Expectations” to the channel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The new version will revolve around a “small-town girl with big dreams of making it in the city who is quickly disillusioned by the harsh reality of living in San Francisco — that is, until her fortunes unexpectedly turn thanks to an anonymous benefactor,” the report says.
The actress is executive producing the series, which now joins several other remakes being considered by the channel, including a contemporary Alice in Wonderland and a new version of the Sleepy Hollow.
