A finalist among “The X Factor’s” Top 16 contestants may be reunited with his birth mother after revealing his adoption story on the show.
David Correy, a 26-year-old singer from Annapolis, Md., was adopted from Brazil after his birth mother gave him up for adoption when she was 14 years old.
“I feel like this opportunity will reconnect me with my birth mother when she hears my voice,” Correy said during his first “X Factor” audition.
“Beautiful, that’s beautiful,” judge L.A. Reid responded.
After that “X Factor” episode aired in Brazil, a woman came forward, believing she could be Correy’s birth mother and went to Brazilian courts to trace the adoption.

Luciene Correia de Lima, 40, claims the birth certificate, orphanage and timeline all match Correy’s information, and she sought help from a local Brazilian newspaper in locating the “X Factor” finalist.
Lima says she is willing to take a DNA test and is interested in reuniting with her son.
“I had a dream to see him one day. I hope he wants to see me,” she told the newspaper.
“Whatever she wants to do, I will do,” Correy said when he spoke with the publication after they tracked him down.
“I pray this is really my birth mother,” Correy Tweeted of a YouTube video posted of Lima. “Every time I watch this I envision myself there.”
The two are scheduling a face-to-face, via Skype, to discuss the next step (and you can bet “The X Factor” will be filming every second of it).
A special edition of “The X Factor,” revealing the complete results of the Judges’ Home rounds, airs Tuesday at 9:30/8:30c on Fox.
