‘The Bachelor’ Execs Fire Back at ‘Big Bang’ Boss’s Bashing

The Bachelor” franchise should be used to getting ripped in the media for its ridiculously poor matching track record, but when it comes from another industry insider, they don’t take too kindly to “Bachelor” bashing.

Some of those who bring us the hit ABC dating show took offense to TV producer Chuck Lorre referring to “The Bachelor” as an “idiotic game show” in his tirade against Mitt Romney and the Republicans in a highly charged political message on his website Friday.

The CBS showrunner caused a stir with his self-censored vanity card that followed Thursday’s episode of “The Big Bang Theory,” in which he railed against the state of the Republican Party in an “offending” message he “banished” to the Internet.

“The Bachelor” gang took to Twitter to respond, firing back at Lorre in a series of Tweets:

“Chuck love it when people expose their own ignorance!” wrote “Bachelor” host Chris Harrison.

Elan Gale, one of the show’s producers, took it a step further, pointing out that the creator of such fare as “Dharma & Greg” doesn’t really have much room for ridicule.

“Someone has been freebasing crushed up copies of Dharma & Greg DVDs,” Gale wrote, adding, “Two and a Half Men. Zero salient points.”

Even ABC’s Robert Mills, the network executive behind the “Bachelor” franchise, got a word in, pointing out that:

“Ironic that Chuck Lorre decides to bash #Bachelor and one of his stars @KaleyCuoco is a card carrying member of #Bachelornation”

No reply from Lorre yet, but perhaps he’s saving it up for his next “censored” vanity card.
