Wondering how Food Network star Guy Fieri really reacted after reading that scathing New York Times review of his new restaurant?
“Saturday Night Live” gave it a shot when Bobby Moynihan got his bleach on to do his impersonation of the ridiculed restauranteur in an unaired sketch from this weekend’s episode.
A jolly (fake) “Fieri” made a special appearance with Seth Meyers at the “Weekend Update” desk, where he expressed his over-caffeinated excitement that the NYT reviewed his restaurant! Apparently he’s not much of a reader, though, because he was oblivious to the flaming critique.
Once he read it on-air, the review made him “sicker than bacon bombs” and even made his energy level dip down to “half throttle.”

Fieri then blasted the New York Times for having any kind of expectations for Guy’s American Kitchen & Bar (located in Times’ Square, which should have been the first red flag) in the first place.
“A guy who wears flames on his shirt and doesn’t bleach his roots doesn’t exactly scream haute cuisine,” Fieri reasoned. “It screams, look out, a maniac’s about to hit ya with a face full of donkey sauce!”
He then added that The New York Times reviewing a Guy Fieri restaurant is “like Architectural Digest reviewing a college dorm.”
Food critic Pete Wells’ review of Fieri’s latest food joint went viral last week, with its hilarious hypothetical questions directed at Fieri such as, “Were you struck by how very far from awesome the Awesome Pretzel Chicken Tenders are?” and “Hey, did you try that blue drink, the one that glows like nuclear waste? The watermelon margarita? Any idea why it tastes like some combination of radiator fluid and formaldehyde?”
The real Guy Fieri responded last week on the “Today” show, where he claimed the reviewer “had an agenda” and was out to get him.
