Chris Brown’s latest rant caught the attention of “The View,” with the daytime hostesses attacking his Tweets and calling them “verbal rape.”
Brown directed his posts toward comedy writer Jenny Johnson, launching a back and forth barrage of insults with the comedian. The exchange began when Johnson responded one of Brown’s tweets writing, “I know! Being a worthless piece of s–t can really age a person. RT @chrisbrown: I look old as f–k! I’m only 23…”
Brown then responded by making a sexual suggestion and later berating the writer. Johnson held her own, correcting his spelling and linking to an article about his 2009 assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna.
The posts seemed to shock “The View’s” Elizabeth Hasselbeck the most.
“I think it’s disgusting, first of all,” Hasselbeck said on the show. “But also, it seems like verbal rape to me. And I think at some point there’s gotta be a point where Twitter should ban anyone who writes anything forever on there and you should identify yourself.”
While the other hosts did not agree with the rape comparison, Hasselbeck, Sherri Shepherd, and Whoopi Goldberg all agreed that Johnson was also to blame.
“I have to say, if you’re gonna mess with him, you have to expect to get your head handed to you,” Goldberg said. “Now, I sort of feel like if you feel like that and you don’t wanna fight, don’t do that, don’t do that. And I disagree with verbal rape, I don’t think that’s verbal rape. I just think both was assault. Both were verbally assaulting each other.”
Brown has since deleted his Twitter account.
