Jason Sudeikis is Ellen DeGeneres’ No. 1 fan. During his first appearance on the “Ellen” show Tuesday, the giddy “SNL” star revealed a long-standing crush on the comedienne, dating all the way back to 1996 when he went to a taping of her sitcom with his uncle, “Cheers” star George Wendt.
Following the taping, Sudeikis went on to proclaim his love for DeGeneres in a college newsletter. His uncle cautioned against hoping for any reciprocal feelings. “He said, ‘You know Jas, I don’t know if she would feel the same way,” Sudeikis admitted. “I was like, ‘I don’t l know what you mean?’ This was all before you know the ‘Time’ Magazine cover and all that,” he said, in reference to Ellen coming out as a lesbian in 1997.
DeGeneres said she was flattered by the crush. “That’s amazing and I thank you for that. I’m a huge fan of yours,” she said. “I had no idea that all this was going on until today when I had a meeting and I learned about you,” she added, joking, “and I called in security immediately.”
