While Melissa Rycroft and partner Tony Dovolani walked off with the coveted mirror ball trophy on Tuesday night’s season finale of “Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars,” the two other couples showed no disappointment after the show.

In fact, second-place finisher Shawn Johnson, with partner Derek Hough by her side, told reporters she felt “relieved. I feel like we put everything out there on the dance floor. I don’t think there’s a single week we could look back at and say, we could have done more. To be honest, they deserved it. They worked really hard. It meant just as much to them as it did to us and seeing the joy on their face when they were called was neat to watch.”

Even “DWTS: All-Stars” Winner Melissa Rycroft Thought Shawn and Derek Were Going to Win

Shawn said Derek helped her gain confidence on “All-Stars” after she lost out on her Olympic gymnastics comeback and “it’ll last a lifetime. It’s a huge gift and I owe him a lot for that.”

Never comfortable in the low-cut gowns and sequins, however, the Season 8 champ admitted that “I’ll put the jeans and the tee shirts back on.”

And that will be the perfect uniform for her next step — “I’m going to college,” Shawn announced to reporters. “I’m going to study women’s health.”

Meanwhile, Derek was thrilled to see his pal Tony a happy winner. “Tony’s been through the trenches. He’s paid his dues. He has had some doozies [as partners]. For him to realize he had a gem, an opportunity, it was amazing. I’m so proud of him.”

And Kelly Monaco, who finished third with Val Chmerkovskiy, said backstage she was looking forward to the post-show press trip to New York: “I feel really good. I can’t wait to pop open the bottle of Dom Perignon in my trailer and get on an airplane.”

She wasn’t shocked at finishing third, saying, “We were shocked every week that we still made it and obviously every week we said the same thing, that we weren’t surprised at any elimination. We made it to the finale and with that in itself, we are winners.”

Hostess Brooke Burke-Charvet pressed Kelly and Val during the finale to confirm whether or not they were a real-life couple, but they once again deflected the questions. When asked to put the romance rumors about her relationship with Val to bed later, Kelly told reporters, “There are no rumors. I have no idea what you’re talking about and no one’s going to bed anytime soon.”

Still, don’t count this couple out. Val’s cameo role on Kelly’s soap opera, “General Hospital,” will be plugged on Wednesday’s “Good Morning America,” she said.
