Howard Stern is returning to “America’s Got Talent” for a second season as a judge.
After teasing fans for weeks about whether or not he’d be back for Season 8 of the NBC summer reality competition, Stern announced his official decision Monday morning on his satellite radio show.
“I’m very, very excited, honestly, about going back to ‘America’s Got Talent,'” Stern said. “I’m very excited to be working again with [executive producer] Simon Cowell and NBC and all the various folks who work there.”
“Howard Stern’s towering presence and opinions on last season’s show as a new judge made a dramatic impact and added a sharper edge to the fascinating developments on stage,” said NBC’s head of alternative programming Paul Telegdy. “We know that Howard believes in America’s Got Talent — which remains America’s top-rated summer series — and that dedication comes across in a genuine way to our viewers who share his passion about our amazing talent competition.”
“AGT’s” popular host Nick Cannon has already re-signed for another year, while fellow judge Howie Mandel is also expected to return, although no official announcement has been made.
Producers are still searching for a replacement for ex-judge Sharon Osbourne, who will not be returning. Osbourne quit the show in a huff at the end of last season after a highly public falling out with the network after her son Jack’s casting on the reality competition “Stars Earn Stripes” fell through following his MS diagnosis.
