After cancelling one-time stalwarts “Attack of the Show,” and “X Play,” G4 is about to get an even more radical makeover.
The Hollywood Reporter writes that NBCUniversal, which owns the gaming channel, has locked in a deal with Hearst Channel to re-brand the network into a “destination more in line with the modern male” with an Esquire label. The channel will now look to focus on an upscale audience and is already developing programming such as cooking, travel and fashion shows for the lineup.However, the report states the the network will continue to offer gaming programming as well.
The new look will kick in sometime during the first half of 2013.
Meanwhile, “Attack of the Show” and “X Play” will wrap up their runs this month.
