Longtime “Today” staple Mike Leonard is retiring after more than 30 years on the program.
The anchor’s “Leonard’s Look” segments have been a regular feature on the national morning show, as he showcased average people “who are often overlooked.”
On his final goodbye on the show Friday morning, co-host Matt Lauer asked Leonard whether he had any favorite stories from his 32 years on the show, to which Leonard replied that his memories were more about the people who were featured, not their stories, noting one African-American mail carrier in Chicago who played a key role in the civil rights movement
His final “Leonard’s Look” ended up being about his 65th birthday party with his family.
