The decision comes in the wake of Friday’s horrific school shooting tragedy in Newtown, Conn., that left 20 children and six adult victims dead.
The network did not make an official statement on the reason for the switch, but it’s believed the move was to avoid airing any potentially sensitive content.
The installments that are being preempted are the shows’ holiday episodes — “Family Guy’s” “Jesus, Mary and Joseph!” and “American Dad’s” “Minstrel Krampus.”
The original episodes of the other series in Fox’s “Animation Domination” lineup, including “The Simpsons,” “The Cleveland Show,” “Bob’s Burgers,” will still air as planned, according to The Futon Critic.
On Friday night, Syfy pulled its scheduled episode of “Haven” due to its content, because it featured scenes of fictitious violence at a high school. The network has not made a decision as to when the episode might air.
