Veteran ABC newsman Sam Donaldson was arrested for DUI earlier this month in Delaware, according to reports.

Donaldson, 78, was pulled over for a traffic violation after he allegedly drove onto the shoulder of the road in Lewes, Del. He was given a field sobriety test and reportedly failed.

Donaldson was arrested for drunken driving, taken to a nearby police station, booked and eventually released. He was cooperative with police, according to the accounts. An arraignment is set for Friday, says the AP.

Donaldson joined ABC News in 1967 and retired from the network in 2009. He still makes appearances on the Sunday ABC news program, “This Week.”
