A&E’s new original drama “Bates Motel” will premiere on Monday, March 18 at 10/9c, the network announced on Friday.
The series, billed as a present-day prequel to the classic genre film “Psycho,” comes from executive producers Carlton Cuse (“Lost”) and Kerry Ehrin (“Friday Night Lights”).
“Bates Motel” stars Freddie Highmore (“Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”) as a teenage Norman Bates and follows him as his psyche unravels alongside his controlling mother Norma, played by Academy Award nominee Vera Farmiga (“Up in the Air”). Season 1 also stars Max Thieriot (“Disconnect”), Olivia Cooke (“Blackout”) and Nicola Peltz (“The Last Airbender”) and co-stars Nestor Carbonell (“Lost”) and Mike Vogel (“Pan Am”).

In “Bates Motel,” Norma Bates decides to uproot her son after the tragic death of her husband. She buys a motel on the outskirts of the coastal town of White Pine Bay While in search of a fresh start, but quickly discovers that all is not what it seems and she and Norman must do whatever it takes to survive.
“Bates Motel” premieres on Monday, March 18 at 10/9c on A&E.
