Amid reports that beleaguered athlete Lance Armstrong is considering admitting to charges that he was doping during races, OWN announced Tuesday that the famed cyclist will sit down with Oprah Winfrey for a “no-holds-barred” interview for “Oprah’s Next Chapter.”
In the interview, Armstrong will take on the alleged doping scandal, years of cheating accusations, and charges of lying about the use of performance-enhancing drugs throughout his storied cycling career, according to the network.
The feature marks the first interview Armstrong has done since being stripped of his titles (and losing millions of dollars in endorsement deals) after the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency released an extensive report accusing him of cheating throughout his career.
The special 90-minute edition of “Oprah’s Next Chapter” will air Thursday night, January 17 at 9/8c on OWN and will be simultaneously streamed LIVE worldwide on Oprah.com.
