Chris Rock isn’t ready to headline his own TV show again, but if he were, he’d want a deal like his friend Louis C.K. has with FX.

Appearing at a TCA panel on Wednesday for “Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell,” which he executive produces with comedian W. Kamau Bell, Rock was asked whether the timing was right for him to return, thirteen years after the end of “The Chris Rock Show.”

“I don’t know,” Rock replied.  “I’m gonna do a movie in a couple of months and I’m gonna go on tour. I don’t see time for it at this moment.”

If he were to be lured back, Rock thinks C.K., who is currently on temporary leave from his show to recharge his creative batteries, would be the guy to emulate. In addition to starring in “Louie,” C.K. writes, directs, executive produces and edits his show – often from the comfort of his own home.

“I’ve sat with Louis on many a night watching him cut his show in his living room,” Rock noted. “He sends them [FX] the show in a FedEx enveloppe sometimes. It’s wild.

“The freedom that [FX President] John [Landgraf] gave him is unprecedented,” he continued. “If I were to do a show, FX is a good place. The model that Louis has, I would want nothing less than that.”

Other Rock Highlights From the Session:

On His Joke About Requiring Background Checks for Ammunition, and Needing a Mortgage to Buy a Gun: “Every mass shooting is done by a guy who lives with his mother. I honestly believe you should have to have a mortgage to buy a gun. No one with a mortgage has ever gone on a killing spree. That’s a serious thought, ’cause a mortgage is a real background check. They don’t just give out mortgages. And if you go to jail for 30 years, you still have to pay your f–king mortgage.”

How he gets his news: “I read the NY Post, Daily News, [and] NY Times. I try to read actual papers because I’m old school. And because there’ no line right now between entertainment and news, you gotta get your kind of bullsh–t stuff, Paris Hilton, Mediatakeout, [and]World Star Hip Hop.”

If He Wants to Take Over Anyone Else’s Late Night Post: “If I answer that and say I want somebody’s job it’ll seem like I’m an a–hole. They’re all great jobs. They’re amazing jobs and I think the guys that are doing those jobs right now are great. Dave and Jay and Jimmy and the other Jimmy is coming along. Jimmy Kimmel is the first Jimmy, and ‘Late Night’ Jimmy is Jimmy Fallon. You never know, though. I think Arsenio is coming back now, too.”

Whether or Not He Still Watches “SNL”: “Yes I do watch ‘SNL’ sometimes now. I hang out there on Saturday nights because they have food. When I’m by myself, it’s hard going to a restaurant, I know when they put their food out so I go and eat dinner there.”

Who He Likes on “SNL’s” Cast Now:  “I like Jay Pharaoh, I think he’s very funny but I think he’s underused. It took him two years to play the black President. That seems odd.”

His One Regret From Working on “Everybody Hates Chris”: My only regret with the show…Was on the network it was on, we never really got the eyes to see it. I wish [former Fox Programming head] Gail Berman would have picked it up on Fox and we would have made a lot more money. I’m very proud of that show. Especially in this career that I curse a lot and do a lot of off color stuff, I can pick my kids up at school and their friends know the show.”
