Expectant celebri-mom Kim Kardashian says her baby news came as a welcome “surprise” — but don’t expect the twice-wed reality star to be walking down the aisle with her baby daddy Kanye West anytime soon. (Nevermind that she is still legally wed to NBA player Kris Humphries.)
“The best surprises happen when you don’t plan,” Kardashian said of her surprise pregnancy Tuesday on the “Today” show.
“Until I really start seeing a belly, it really won’t sink in,” Kardashian said, “It’s just like a weird realization.”
Kardashian revealed that she wasn’t always sure if parenthood would be in her future because, like her sister Khloe Kardashian Odom, fertility has been an issue.
“Khloe has been very open about her fertility issues, but I was always kind of quiet about mine,” Kim said.
“I think it’s just such a blessing knowing my circumstances,” she added.
Kardashian, 32, and West, 35, are expecting their first child in July (when the celebrity “bump watch” will already be in overdrive since that’s the same time Prince William and Kate Middleton’s royal bundle is due).
Kanye’s announcement during a concert was not pre-planned Kim admitted. “No, he just does what he feels,” Kim smiled, “once you’re past the three month mark it’s pretty safe, and he was feeling it that night, I guess” (or as tabloid covers screamed this week, momager Kris Jenner was furious, “You cost us millions!”).
As for that nagging technicality of her stalled divorce to Humphries, Kardashian vaguely stated “it’s a process” but made it clear she’s ready to move on, just not necessarily to husband No. 3, at least not yet anyway.
“You know, it’s something we talk about,” Kim says of the prospects of marrying Kanye, “but right now it’s focusing on the baby.”
The season premiere of “Kourtney and Kim Take Miami” airs Sunday on E!
