‘CSI: NY’ Star Arrested for DUI in Arizona

CSI: NY” actor Carmine Giovinazzo has been arrested on DUI charges, TMZ reports.

Giovinazzo was pulled over around 2:40 a.m. on Monday, January 21 in Scottsdale, Ariz. after his white Jeep Wrangler was seen swerving on the road.

Police observed that Giovinazzo smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and slurred his speech, TMZ says. Giovinazzo, who had two passengers in the vehicle, immediately apologized and initially claimed he had been driving erratic because “he was lost and using the GPS.” The actor eventually admitted he’d had been drinking at the W Hotel.

Giovinazzo was arrested for DUI and later released. Cops report his blood alcohol level registered at .149, nearly twice the legal limit in Arizona.

The website also notes that the actor was excessively polite during the arrest, according to the police report.

The arresting officer stated that Giovinazzo “repeatedly apologized to me and told me he didn’t want to be an ‘a**hole’ ” and that “[Carmine] thanked me many times for not treating him like a criminal and showing him respect.”

Giovinazzo, 39, plays Detective Danny Messer on the CBS procedural since it premiered in 2004.
