Avid sports fan and TV personality Regis Philbin may be spinning those two things into his next real gig.

An interesting new item out of the rumor mill suggests Philbin could be headed to Fox Sports to host a new show.

The veteran “Live” host reportedly has been in discussions with Fox to host a program for its planned Fox Sports 1 channel, reports Sports Business Daily.

According to several sources, Philbin would serve as the main host of the show that’s described as a sports version of “The View” — with Philbin fronting the program on a part-time basis, just as Barbara Walters does on “The View.”

There’s no deal yet, but the sources claim the talks are “serious” and “an agreement could be close at hand,” says SBD.

Comedian Jay Mohr is also reportedly in consideration for landing a show at Fox Sports 1.

Fox has declined to comment on the rumors, nor has the network confirmed its alleged plans to re-launch some of its properties.

Insiders say Fox Sports plans to re-brand its Speed channel into the multi-sport Fox Sports 1 this August, as well as re-brand its action-sports channel Fuel into Fox Sports 2, according to the story.
