Kai (real name Caleb “Kai” Lawrence), the homeless hero hitchhiker who recently gained notoriety for using his hatchet to stop a man claiming to be “Jesus” from killing several people, made an appearance on Monday’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” and he was every bit as hilarious, profane and oddly profound as you’d expect him to be.
Kimmel conducted the entire interview from a car, with the twenty-four year-old sitting shotgun. During their six-minute ride, Kai reflected on his philosophical outlook on life: “I’m just a badass motherf–ker”; why he prefers to be called “home free” rather than “homeless;” and how he gets away with jacking “hella sh-t from Walmart and Target.”
Kimmel admitted that earlier in the day he’d given Kai some cash, only to witness him turn around and hand it out to strangers. “The quickest way to devalue a currency is to stop believing in it,” Kai said. Then Kimmel offered Kai a gift he won’t be too quick to give away: the Mini Mal surfboard and wetsuit he’d asked for at the end of his now-infamous KMPH interview.
