It’s domestic terrorism, kidnapping, human body bombs, plane crashes and zombies when “Body of Proof” returns for a third season next Tuesday, Feb. 19. The show is amping up the volume on the cases and adding new cast members, including a hot, new love interest for Dr. Megan Hunt (Dana Delany).
“I think of this as Season 3.5,” Delany says. “It is the reboot. It has more energy to it.”
It will also have some comedic moments — check out the video — when Mark Valley joins the cast as Det. Tommy Sullivan, a former NYPD detective who Megan dated 20 years earlier and has moved to Philadelphia for the sole purpose of reconnecting with her.
“We go toe-to-toe on this,” adds Delany, who reveals that they did a chemistry test just to prove to the network that they have what it takes. “He is very manly. He is a true guy. He has an ironic sense of humor, and he is very serious about playing a cop as a real cop, not a TV cop.”
Season 3.5 begins months after Peter’s death when Megan finally returns to work and is surprised when Tommy is the detective assigned to her first dead body, along with his rookie partner Adam Schaeffer (Elyes Gabel). But the case — a serial killer whose victims are all ex-war vets — takes a personal turn when Megan’s teenage daughter is kidnapped and held hostage.
“This season is going to be boffo exciting,” Delany says.
“Body of Proof” will premiere on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 10/9 on ABC.
