How does Shakira hope to retain a competitive edge when she steps up as a new mentor on Season 4 of “The Voice“? By being the only female on the panel alongside Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and fellow new coach Usher.

Despite the fact that Christina Aguilera, former title holder of Sole Lady Mentor, has never won a season, the “She Wolf” singer seems confident that “being the only girl is a little bit of an advantage.”

Levine backed up that theory when he recently revealed that Shakira “plays the female card quite a bit” during the audition rounds. “That’s one thing we can’t compete with really, so she’s smart. Watch out for her. She’s so sweet and she smiles, but she’s not that sweet!”

Levine added that the Colombian star is “ready to bust some heads” this season, but so far maybe his is safe?

“I promise to be gentle on Adam,” she tells “Voice” social media correspondent Christina Milian in the interview below. “But not too much. Just a little.”
