“Celebrity Apprentice” star Donald Trump is being immortalized.
The famed billionaire will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, the WWE announced, on Saturday, April 6 at Madison Square Garden.
Trump has a long history with the organization, first with WrestleMania IV in 1988 and its successor in 1989 when he hosted the events in Atlantic City. More recently, however, Trump had an on-air “feud” with WWE owner Vince McMahon, “buying” the WWE in 2009, and selling it back to McMahon a week later for twice the price. Trump also took part in a “Battle of the Billionaires” match at WrestleMania XXIII that resulted in McMahon’s head being shaved.
“It was literally the thrill of a lifetime performing in front of 80,000 enthusiastic fans during the ‘Battle of the Billionaires’ match at WrestleMania XXIII,” said Trump, Chairman and President, The Trump Organization. “I’ve always enjoyed and respected WWE’s brand of entertainment and look forward to the ceremony in my hometown at Madison Square Garden.”
Trump will become the latest celebrity to be enshrined into he WWE Hall of Fame, joining the likes of Drew Carey, Pete Rose, Bob Uecker, Mike Tyson and William “Refrigerator” Perry.
Other members of the 2013 WWE Hall of Fame Class include Bruno Sammartino, Mick Foley, Bob Backlund and Trish Stratus.
