Seth Meyers got a surprise prank call from his former “Weekend Update” co-host on Thursday night’s episode of “Watch What Happens Live.”

Amy Poehler, disguising her voice and posing as a viewer from New Hampshire, phoned in to the show to ask Meyers what he liked about working with her on “SNL.”

“Amy has an incredible energy about her,” Meyers responded. “She’s the funniest person on Earth but she makes everyone else feel very funny. She’s a really big laugher.”

Poehler thanked Meyers for the high praise, effectively giving herself away to host Andy Cohen. “Is this actually Amy Poehler?” a shocked Cohen asked. “Yes, it is,” she admitted.

“Oh come on!” Meyers said in mock outrage. “You’re such a jerk! Here I am being earnest and sweet about you!”

Cohen then seized the opportunity to ask the “Parks and Recreation” star the question that’s “been on everyone’s mind” this week: whether she’d consider hosting the Oscars next year.

“Andy, this is Seth’s night and I don’t want to take anything away from him,” she joked.

Earlier this week Poehler’s Golden Globes co-host and pal Tina Fey said there’s “no way” she would host the Oscars after it was playfully suggested by William Shatner at Sunday’s awards ceremony.

Fellow “WWHL” guest Gayle King refused to settle for Poehler’s cagey response, prompting her again to answer the question. “Gayle, again, this is about you right now,” Poehler deadpanned.

Whether or not Poehler is interested in the job, there seems to be a new frontrunner who’s emerged in next year’s bid for Oscars host: Jimmy Kimmel. According to the New York Post, Kimmel is “already being lined up” for 2014 because of his break-out status at ABC this year.
