Barbara Walters made headlines for her return to “The View” this week, but what is drawing interest is how she got sick in the first place.
Walters had been out of action due to different illnesses since the year began, including chicken pox. Now Walters confirmed on Tuesday’s show that it was in fact actor Frank Langella who infected her with the virus, according to the LA Times. She said that Langella gave her a kiss (on the cheek, she claims) while suffering from a case of shingles on New Year’s Eve.
Langella, of course, once had a long-term relationship with fellow “View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg, breaking up in 2000 after a five-year relationship.
Walters told viewers that she originally didn’t want to out Langella as the cause of her illness, but she relented once the media discovered the culprit.
“I didn’t want to” reveal this, she told Joy Behar.
Here’s a clip of Walters’ return yesterday.
