UPDATE: Barbara Walters addressed the rumors swirling around the cast of “The View” Monday and set the record straight on who’s staying and who’s going.

After confirming Joy Behar’s plans to depart the show this summer — and Behar offering a hilarious Top 10 list of reasons why she’s leaving “The View” — Walters addressed the “particularly false” reports that surfaced late Friday claiming co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck was being ousted.

“We have no plans for Elisabeth to leave,” Walters said. “The truth is we love Elisabeth. I like her personally. She’s just a wonderful person. But beyond that, we value and appreciate her point of view. It’s important to us because Elisabeth helps give this show perspective and balance … So we have no plans for Elisabeth to leave this show.”

“The View” is turning into a real hot topic this week!

One day after Joy Behar dropped the bombshell that she’s leaving “The View” comes a report that co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck could be following her out the door.

Us Weekly is reporting that Hasselbeck, 35, will not be returning to the ABC daytime talk show next season.

According to the tabloid’s insider, the conservative Hasselbeck, an outspoken Republican who’s been a polarizing figure during her nine-year run on “The View,” is being ousted because she rubs viewers the wrong way.

“The viewers they polled all said she was too extreme and right wing,” the insider told Us Weekly. “People did not watch the show because of Elisabeth. So they told her yesterday her contract would not be renewed.”

An ABC rep issued a statement to Us Weekly regarding the story, saying: “Elisabeth Hasselbeck is a valued member of The View and has a long term contract.”

Hasselbeck joined Barbara Walters’ talk show in November 2003, following the departure of original co-host Lisa Ling in 2002.

On Thursday, Behar, 70, announced she’ll be exiting the daytime program in August after 16 years. Of her decision, the comedian said, “It seemed like the right time.”

Who Do You Think Should Replace Joy Behar on “The View”?

“You can’t stay forever on a show,” Behar told “Good Morning America.” “I am graciously exiting stage left. I’ve put in 16 1/2 years and felt the time was right. I want to explore other opportunities.”
