As the new “Star Wars” movies gear up, one popular brand based on the famed films is shutting down.
Cartoon Network’s “Star Wars:The Clones Wars” is ending production, according to Entertainment Weekly. The series, which takes place between Episodes 1 and 2 of the franchise, has run on the network for five seasons.
Lucasfilm, which makes the animated show, made the announcement and noted that the team is still working on additional Clone Wars story arcs which are now being called “bonus content.”
With a new direction at Lucasfilm, “other things have to wind down and come to a close, and that’s what we’re going to do to be doing with ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars,’” says Dave Filoni, supervising director of the series, in a video posted Monday to the Star Wars channel on Facebook.
