It was no surprise that Justin Timberlake stole the show on this past week’s “Saturday Night Live.” Even after his fifth time as host, his gift for goofiness shines. How many other world famous R&B singing movie stars do you know who would dress up like a giant hunk of tofu.
However, what was a gigantic surprise in the episode was the reappearance of a pair of wild and crazy guys known as the Festrunk Brothers. Unexpected guests Steve Martin and Dan Aykroyd reprised the roles they created on “SNL” 36 years earlier in a sketch about dating shows. The Czechoslovakian siblings were two of the most popular characters during the show’s earliest days and it’s always nice when the current edition gives a nod likes this to its roots.
So, if you’re too young to appreciate Georg and Yortuk’s relentless search for parties and women with their big American…well, you know….Czech out these clips of their previous appearance. And if you do remember the Festrunks, enjoy this look back at what made them so memorable.

It’s been a few decades, none of which have been very kind to the Festrunks, but they returned as clueless and comedic as ever as part of a dating game show that proves staying single isn’t such a bad thing.

Who knows whether the Festrunk boys were virgins at this point, but this was definitely their first time….appearing on “Saturday Night Live.” It’s surprising how well this sketch, if not their wardrobe, still seems as current now as it did back then.

The Festrunks met their match – literally – in this second appearance. The boys tried computer dating and ended up with the Croatian Cherbu sisters (Jane Curtin, Laraine Newman), who were as eager to find big American bulges as the Festrunks were to find big American…well, you know. Add in their Uncle Krabosh, better known as John Belushi, and the English language was never the same afterward.

In a show that featured not only the return of the Blues Brothers but also legendary Martin’s musical tribute to “King Tut,” the Festrunks still stood out with this bit that found them still waiting for the arrival of the ever-elusive “foxes.” And instead hanging out with similarly swingin’, perpetually leather clad American buddy Cliff (a.k.a. Garrett Morris).

Finally, the two wild and crazy guys made it out of their swinging American singles pad into a swinging American singles club. So how did it go for them this time? Do you really even have to ask?
