ABC’s celebrity diving competition hasn’t even taken the plunge and premiered yet but we already have our first injury on “Splash.”
“Splash” contestant Chuy Bravo, who reportedly didn’t know how to dive or even swim when he signed on, is bowing out of the upcoming reality show after fracturing his foot Monday night — an injury that did not come from diving.
The diminutive TV personality, known for being Chelsea Handler’s sidekick on her E! talk show, broke the news to his TV boss, who shared the details Tuesday night on “Chelsea Lately.”
“He hasn’t even dove once and already broke his foot. I’m not f***ing kidding,” Handler said, revealing a photo of Chuy’s left foot in a cast, with him surrounded by a bevy of bathing beauties.
“And I was worried when I heard he’d hurt himself, and I said, diving?, and they said, no … we were having a party for the premiere of the show — and he fell off a table,” Handler explained.
“He’s so lazy, he doesn’t even want to dive,” Handler joked, adding, “so this gets him out of this job and the diving job.”
Soccer star Brandi Chastain, infamous for ripping off her jersey after the U.S.’s women’s soccer team won the 1999 World Cup, reportedly will be his replacement on the show, according to TMZ, which premieres next week on ABC.
“Splash” premieres Tuesday, March 19 at 8/7c on ABC.
