With “Private Practice” now out of business with ABC, people have been wondering if that means Kate Walsh might be checking back into “Grey’s Anatomy.”

Series creator Shonda Rhimes (“Grey’s,” “Private,” “Scandal“) says the doors of Seattle Grace are always open for Addison (you know, as long as there is still a hospital!), but there are no plans at this time for her character to return, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“I would love to see Addison back at Seattle Grace at some point for a visit,” Rhimes told THR. “I’ve said a million times that before the show ends its run, Addison has got to put on her shoes and scrub cap and come scrub in at the hospital. That’s a given for me.”
She will “always going to be a member of that family,” Rhimes added.
Walsh played Dr. Addison Montgomery-Shepherd on “Grey’s Anatomy” for six seasons, before her character was spun-off for her own show and left Seattle to run her own “Private Practice” in California. That drama ran from 2007-2013 and ended its run in January.
While several “Practice” cast members have already lined up their next gigs, Walsh is a free agent at the moment, but Rhimes says the gang is enjoying some much-needed rest since the show ended two months ago.
“Everybody at ‘Private Practice’ is taking a vacation and for the first time in six years, I don’t know where they all are,” Rhimes said. “We sort of keep email asking, ‘What are you doing?’ and they’re here and there. It’s really exciting and great for everybody to have a moment before they all get back to what ever is going to be next.”
“Grey’s Anatomy” airs Thursdays at 9/8c on ABC.
