Artist-in-Residence: Justin Timberlake’s Week at NBC: Watch

Justin Timberlake’s week-long stay at NBC came to an end Friday night with a grand finale of sorts when he and Jimmy Fallon collaborated on one of their signature bits — “History of Rap.”

This was No. 4 in the duo’s “History of Rap” series in which they collaborate on a medley of famous rap songs.

It aired on Friday night’s “Late Night” on NBC and it served as a capper on the many comedy bits JT took part in ever since last Saturday, when he guest-hosted “Saturday Night Live” for the fifth time.

On Monday, in the same building — NBC’s New York headquarters at 30 Rockefeller Plaza — the multi-talented music superstar embarked on a five-day “artist-in-residence” stay on the “Fallon” show, where he performed both comedy and music every night this week. The week culminated musically Friday night with an 11-minute performance that was a medley of JT’s hits.

It capped an incredible week (especially for the Timberlake fans who formed the bulk of the “Late Night” studio audience and screamed themselves silly all week long). We don’t remember ever seeing anything like it before — one entertainer taking up residence on a TV network for a week. There was a publicity motive for JT for this week of shows — promoting the release next week of his new CD “The 20/20 Experience.” Still, this week-long stay was so unique, and Timberlake was so charismatic, that we thought we’d collect his performances right here, in one place, starting with the end — his closing medley.
