The Season 3 premiere of “Game of Thrones” drew 4.4 million viewers for its 9 p.m. premiere and that number increased to 6.7 million viewers for the night when the repeat airings behind it were combined. That’s up 13% from its premiere opener last year.

It’s a significant coup for the HBO series; not only was there the disadvantage of airing on Easter Sunday night, “GOT” also faced stiff competition from the Season 3 finale of AMC’s monster hit “The Walking Dead.”
